After conquering another year together and producing great results, FSN WEST and FSN PRIME TICKET hosted the third annual employee bowling day on Monday, August 18. Everyone followed Team 13’s lead (pictured from left to right: Quinesha Stephens, coordinator, affiliate relations – west; Lya Vallet, producer; Marlissa Henderson, finance manager; and, Melissa Dlin, general sales manager) and had a great time. Speaking of leads, FSN WEST and FSN PRIME TICKET director Matt Lipp took home the top prize.

HITTING IT OUT OF THE PARK

The sales department at FSN WEST and FSN PRIME TICKET aims to hit one out of the park for every partner, every time. This summer, several promotional campaigns brought the ballpark to the amusement park, and back around:

D’OH!
Universal Studios Hollywood partnered with the Los Angeles Dodgers and FSN PRIME TICKET for the “Hit A Homer” promotion. Tied to the launch of the new action-packed Simpsons theme park attraction, when a Dodger hit a “Homer” during the 5th inning of a home game in July, kids aged 15 and under in attendance get into Universal Studios Hollywood free with each adult paid admission.

THE RIDE THAT’S A GAME AND GAME THAT’S A RIDE
“Dodgers Live” reporter Steve Lyons, along with Los Angeles Dodgers Joe Biemel and Blake DeWitt, had a blast at the newest attraction at Disneyland Resort in June. The three battled it out on “Toy Story Mania”, the ride that’s a game and a game that’s a ride. It was announced on Friday, June 27 on “Dodgers Live” that DeWitt was the top spring-action shooter, and a family four-pack Disneyland vacation package was awarded to the grand prize winner who correctly identified the winner via email.

FIELD OF DREAMS, TIMES TWO
For the “Ballpark Big Shots” sweepstakes, FSN WEST/PRIME TICKET viewers are directed to participating Southern California AMPM locations for a chance to win memorable baseball experiences and great prizes. Fans can enter online at www.ampm.com/baseball , too. “Ballpark Big Shots” ends August 13, gives fans a chance to win tickets and merchandise, and

Meanwhile, Subway collaborated with the Angels and FSN WEST to create the ultimate sweepstakes for all die-hard Angels fans. “One ANGELic Night” offered one lucky grand prize winner the complete VIP treatment at a 2008 Angels game.

FSN Celebrates with Kia Motors America

Here, Soto stands at the podium while executives including Mr. B.M. Ahn, group president and CEO of Kia Motors America and Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia and Mr. E.S. Chung, President of Kia Motors Corporation, cut the red ribbon. In the second photo, Soto holds the time capsule nameplate, explaining what it will reveal to Kia Design Center America employees in 50 years.

FSN WEST and FSN PRIME TICKET put its proud Southern California roots on display on June 24, 2008, being among the first to congratulate Kia Motors America on the opening of its new corporate campus in Irvine, Calif. Reporter and Orange County native Lindsay Soto represented FSN as the master of ceremonies for an event that combined local civic and business leaders, as well as top Kia brass.

SUMMER FUN!

This summer FSN PRIME TICKET invites sports fans to relive some of Southern California's biggest moments and events through eight weeks of classic programming.

The retrospective includes events from the 1970’s through today. FSN PRIME TICKET revisits classic high school football games between rivals as well as memorable moments from professional teams.

OH, EIGHT-EIGHT-EIGHT!!!

It has been 24 years since the Olympics were in Los Angeles, but Angelenos have Olympic fever just the same. All year long, FSN WEST and FSN PRIME TICKET compliment coverage of traditional team sports with Olympic sports coverage. 2008 was no different. From the CIF State Track and Field Championships to “In My Own Words: Jeannette Bolden,” FSN PRIME TICKET was the place to prep for watching the world compete at National Stadium in Beijing.

In June, FSN PRIME TICKET revisited Olympic gold, sitting down with Karch Kiraly, Sinjin Smith and Carl Henkel to relive the final men’s match in 1996, tabbed as the “Battle of the Ages.” With two women’s basketball Olympians in our midst, we couldn’t resist profiling them before they went for gold. On “In My Own Words: Candace Parker,” the WNBA rookie and first time Olympian discussed her career, while teammate on two fronts Lisa Leslie shared her Olympic hopes on “In My Own Words: Lisa Leslie.” Even baseball got in the action, with the Dodgers-Padres pre-season game at Wukesong stadium, previewing an Olympic facility in Beijing.

FSN WEST CAPTURES GOLD

The Dodgers/Angels “Rivalry” spot won 2008 PROMAX Gold in the Live Event – single spot category. The spot, written and produced by James Freeman and Steve Guerrero, beat out network powerhouses NBC and ABC even besting big Fox’s NASCAR promo! When you consider FSN WEST was the only regional network in the category – it’s an especially fantastic feat.

REPORTING LIVE FROM HOME DEPOT

David Beckham has proven himself a team player rather than a flash-in-the-pan. Galaxy ratings on FSN WEST have risen nearly 50% since last season, and more than doubled since 2006. Meanwhile the 2007 regular season Western Conference Champions Chivas USA are neck in neck with the Galaxy, giving “Becks” a run for his money.

HALFWAY HOME

Its mid-July, the All-Star break is over, and the heat is on. What will the second half of the season mean for the Dodgers and Angels, both at the head of their divisions, but for decidedly different reasons?

For each of the 100 Angels games this season, FSN WEST has either an original program dedicated to the Angels, or an episode of “Angels Live,” to enhance the fan viewing experience. This year fans have also had the chance to see Torii Hunter up close and personal in the two episodes of “Hangin’ with Mr. Hunter” which aired during “Angels Live.” The first half of the season, FSN WEST and PRIME TICKET gave fans a visual journey through John Garland’s career in “Before the Bigs” and a chance to hear the words of Justin Speier, Garret Anderson and Scot Sheilds as they told their story on “In My Own Words.” Additionally, Angels original shows debuting soon or in development include: “Before the Bigs: Howie Kendrick”, “In My Own Words: Frankie Rodriguez”, “In My Own Words: Torii Hunter”, “Angels Insider: Tony Reagins”, “Angels Insider: Angels Farm System” and “Angels Insider: Mike Scioscia”.

FSN PRIME TICKET has 43 Dodgers games to go after the All-Star break. In addition to 60 hours of “Dodgers Live” this season, FSN PRIME TICKET has over three hours of original programming dedicated to the Dodgers. From the island of Curacao fans traced the career of the newest Dodger in “Before the Bigs: Andruw Jones,” and journeyed from suburban Houston to Los Angeles in “Before the Bigs: James Loney.” Nomar Garciaparra got the chance to tell his story on “In My Own Words, “and Andre Ethier will outline his career path later this season in his episode of “Before the Bigs.”

In the second half of the season, as the tension rises, FSN WEST and PRIME TICKET will be there to document how these teams struggle to hang on to their dominant positions.

FSN WEST WAS THERE, EVERY STEP OF THE WAY

The Los Angeles Lakers began the season as a gathering of individuals and ended the year a team unit with has every reason to be proud. The Lakers’ rebound earned the team a chance to re-live one of the greatest rivalries in NBA history, meeting the Boston Celtics in the 2008 NBA Finals.

FSN WEST followed the team throughout the entire post-season, televising select games during the first round and providing in-depth coverage via “Lakers Live” pre-and post-game shows.

Lakers 2008 NBA Finals performance coverage on FSN WEST continued through the final round. For every game, Michael Eaves hosted post-game “Lakers Live” shows with analyst Norm Nixon and reporter Patrick O’Neal. In the final round, Rick Fox joined the FSN WEST team to add his unique perspective as a former player for both the Lakers and the Celtics to the effort.

FOR THE KIDS

On Friday, June 13, 2008, Los Angeles sports fans experienced a never-before-seen gathering of two legends: Vin Scully and John Wooden. FSN PRIME TICKET captured this historic event, with a live telecast documenting the meeting of two of the greatest minds in sports. All proceeds from “SCULLY & WOODEN…For the Kids” were split between the Pediatric Cancer Programs at Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA and pediatric cancer research at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and City of Hope through ThinkCure, the official charity of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
