THREE MORE FOR THE TROPHY CASE

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced Saturday, September 6, 2008 that FSN WEST and PRIME TICKET collectively received three Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards at the 60th annual presentation at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre. Overall, the sister networks received 15 nominations in 2007.

In 11 years of Academy recognition, FSN WEST and PRIME TICKET have been honored collectively with 121 total nominations and 42 wins.

“As the leader in sports television in Southern California, we strive for excellence on our air every day, with every game telecast, original program and promo,” said Steve Simpson, senior vice president and general manager of FSN WEST and FSN PRIME TICKET. “This recognition belongs equally to our team partners: their insight and access is essential to the creative team making ideas come to life.”

A total of three L.A. Area Emmys were awarded to FSN WEST and PRIME TICKET for outstanding work in the following categories: Sports Series, Sports Tease and Short Promo. Specifically, “Before the Bigs”, courtesy of the FSN WEST/PRIME TICKET Sports Team, won for best Sports Series; “Anaheim Ducks 2007 Home Opener Tease ‘Shift Happens’”, courtesy of the FSN WEST/PRIME TICKET Sports Team, won for best Sports Tease; and “Building Legends”, courtesy of the FSN WEST/PRIME TICKET Sports Team, won for best Short Promo.

“HIGH SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT” KICKS-OFF THE SEASON

A special preseason edition of “High School Spotlight” airs at 10:30 PM TONIGHT, Friday, September 5. In this half-hour show, PRIME TICKET previews CIF-SS matchups and players to watch throughout the 2008 football season.

Coverage of the “Toyota High School Football Game of the Week” starts each week with a half-hour pre-game “High School Spotlight” show. Host Lindsay Soto anchors the program which covers high school athletics in the Valleys, the L.A. Basin, the Inland Empire, and Orange County. Guest analysts and reporters join Soto to help provide insight, game footage and interviews. “High School Spotlight” post-game coverage completes each game telecast.

2008 TOYOTA HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME OF THE WEEK: SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED


With both storied match-ups and new communities to showcase, a new season of the “Toyota High School Football Game of the Week” on PRIME TICKET begins on Friday, September 12. Telecast coverage of Birmingham at Crespi begins at 7 PM with the “High School Spotlight” pre-game show; kick-off is at 7:30 PM.

Play-by-play announcer Chris McGee is in the booth alongside analyst John Jackson all season long (photo, upper left). High School Football sideline reporters Jackie Pickering (photo, upper right) and Dain Blanton complete the PRIME TICKET telecast team.

Weekly game telecast coverage begins with a half-hour “High School Spotlight” pre-game show. Tune-in times below reflect the start of the post game, with the exception of Weeks 2 and 3, which begin on a delay. Post-game reporting follows game conclusion every week.

FALL 2008 INTERNSHIP RECRUITING IS UNDERWAY

The internship program at Fox Sports WEST and PRIME TICKET provides college students with hands-on sports television industry experience. Student are assigned to specific departments in 10-week sessions, devoting a minimum of eight hours a week to observing and learning outside of the classroom. The result is a challenging, real-world compliment to their academics studies.

Twenty-six (26) internships are available at the regional sports networks in Los Angeles. A breakdown of the positions is as follows: Production – Event; Production – Front Office; Sports Business Administration; Marketing; Sales; and, Communications.
